The Pros And Cons Of A Ringbearer & The Ring Pillow

The Clergy Network Wedding Officiators - Ringbearer Nightmares - I am a professional wedding officiator- there are very few of us in Southern California today. Most anyone can become a wedding clergy or officiator and most anyone does! It is like a revolving door, a new marriage officiator is here today and then gone by next year. In our 19 years of presiding over wedding ceremonies, we have seen a lot - both good and bad. A quick pointer on ringbearers..... usually, most ringbearers are too young to carry the wedding rings down the aisle, then alone be responsible for them prior to the ceremony. So, to be realistic, the best man and/or maid of honour should be the bearers of the rings (and not on a ring pillow). This makes it easier for the wedding clergy as well.

A RingBearer Story -Recently, one of The Clergy Network wedding officiators just presided over a ceremony whereby the bride and groom insisted that the young ring bearer was to carry the rings on the ring pillow... big mistake.... The rings were placed on the ring pillow (not by the wedding clergy), and done so tightly, that during the ceremony, the bride attempted to break the knots on the pillow to release the rings with her teeth! Finally, a groomsman took a lighter and burnt off the knotted ribbon to free the rings... almost a fire hazard! Moreover, the ringbearer gave the rings to the wrong persons! When selecting a professional wedding officiator, pick wisely, this simple senario is one of many a "real" officiator can warn before hand (We Did) . In the case above, the couple choose to ignore the advice of a TCN officiator, but at least they were advised on the practical matters.
